She only had one dream,
That was to be a queen and reign supreme
When I say queen I don’t mean on a throne, but rather,
On the cover of a popular magazine she would gather.
That was to be a queen and reign supreme
When I say queen I don’t mean on a throne, but rather,
On the cover of a popular magazine she would gather.
She’d wake up in the morning feeling hungry as ever,
However in her mind not eating was way better.
The skinnier she was the farther that she would go,
At least that’s what society told her so
The less she ate the more she lost weight
Which in her mind. increased her odds of becoming great.
The commercials, magazines, and movies made her think,
I wonder if the public eye will ever really blink?
Living life under her own microscope, no hope,
Lost in the scramble and couldn’t cope.
She says to herself every night before she sleeps
As she weeps.
Will greatness be something that I can reach?
If only she knew, that greatness is made for her too,
And not just for the 1% considered to be cool.
Another victim of the public spotlight,
Lost in her understanding of what is deemed right,
And wrong.
The spotlight was too strong, by the age of 18 she already was long gone.
Addicted to the comments and criticism,
If only she knew that it wasn’t beauty that she was missing
It was something deeper- something harder to find
Something less physical, but yet something more defined
Being a victim of criticism is emotionally unforgiving
Be true to yourself from the very beginning
If you’re a queen in your eyes then you’re already winning
However in her mind not eating was way better.
The skinnier she was the farther that she would go,
At least that’s what society told her so
The less she ate the more she lost weight
